GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–According to Goose Creek Police, On Sunday, March 29, 2015 at approximately 2:06 p.m. officers responded to 400 Judy Drive (Boulder Bluff Elementary School) in reference to a suspicious fire.
Upon arrival, officers met with fire department personnel who advised that the fire on the playground seemed to be intentionally set.
It was determined through investigation two juveniles, 11 and 10 years old, intentionally set the fire.
The 11-year-old juvenile was charged with Arson 3rd Degree and released to the parents.
The case will be forwarded to Family Court.
The 10-year-old was counseled and released to the parents and will not be charged due to his age.
It’s estimated that $50,000 in damages was caused to the playground equipment.
“The safety, security and well-being of our students, staff and schools is Berkeley County School District’s number one concern,” school district officials stated. “The damaged playground equipment has been removed from the Boulder Bluff campus to prevent any risk to students.”
