
ST. STEPHEN, S.C.–Since Monday the Berkeley County Rescue Squad has been actively looking for a 77-year-old man believed to have jumped off a bridge and into the water at Rediversion Canal in the St. Stephen area.
The canal runs from Lake Moultrie to the Santee River.
Dispatched notified the squad of the search around 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
According to authorities, they found the man’s car on top of the bridge along with his wallet on Highway 52 heading into St. Stephen.
He reportedly has numeral medical issues.
Also assisting the squad is the Charleston County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol Unit, DNR, the Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office and the North Charleston Fire Department.
