18-Wheeler Crashes Into Mobile Home In Berkeley County

bigrigBERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–An elderly woman and her grown son got quite the wake-up call Monday morning after firefighters say an 18-wheeler crashed into their mobile home.

Moncks Corner Rural Fire Chief Scott Lee says the accident happened shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Cottonwood Lane inside the River Burch Mobile Home Park just off Highway 6 in Berkeley County.

Lee says the woman and her son walked away from the accident without any injuries. According to authorities shortly after the accident, the two left to go have breakfast in town as a wrecker removed the big rig from their house.

The wife of the 18-wheeler driver says her husband was coming from Cross and headed to Charleston to pick up a load when the crash happened. He is said to be doing okay.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol was also on scene as crews directed traffic.

The estimated damage to the mobile home is unknown at this time.
