CROSS, S.C.–Berkeley County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Cross High School student for bringing a handgun on campus Thursday, according to an incident report.
After meeting with the assistant principal, the deputy located the 17-year-old teen in the JROTC building of the school.
He was escorted to the SRO office where his book bag was searched and a weapon was found, deputies stated.
The gun was described as a revolver type and was unloaded.
The teen was reportedly then detained and charged with carrying a firearm on school property.
He was transported to the jail and will be recommended for expulsion, according to the incident report.
The report stated that the teen will also be suspended for several days.
It’s not clear why the teen brought the gun to school in the first place.
