BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Sixteen people are hoping for a shot at becoming Berkeley County’s next sheriff.
However, there could be one less candidate in the race due to a technicality of sorts.
Bonneau Police Chief Franco Fuda recently filed a petition letter against fellow candidate Brian Adams, stating that the North Charleston police officer failed to write in his high school graduation date.
According to state law, this little mishap could disqualify a candidate from running.
Adams, who also ran against longtime sheriff Wayne DeWitt in June 2014, took to social media to address the issue.
“I want to inform my supporters that a complaint has been filed against me that I missed writing the date I graduated from high school on the sworn affidavit, as required by state statute,” stated Adams. “I have provided proof of my
high school graduation to the Republican Party and the local election office. This was an oversight on my part.”
There will be a meeting of the Executive Committee on Monday at 7:00 p.m. to review the issue.
The Republican primary for Berkeley County Sheriff is slated for April 21st.
In an article by WCBD-TV, Tim Callanan, the Chair of the Berkeley County Republican Party, says during that meeting they could decide then to disqualify Adams from the race.
Callanan also added that it is possible that a judge could eventually rule at some point on the petition.

Yep, this poll is invalid because you can just keep voting over and over again! You need to set it to one IP address per vote and to drop a cookie in their box! Interestingly, you can see whose people are stacking the deck. Burbage, Isgett, Lewis and Adams. Too bad you can’t do this crap at the polls, boys!
P.S. Also of interest is that in South Carolina, “political posters (presumably including lawn signs) are not allowed
within 200 feet of any South Carolina voting station on the day of an
election”. Now when you absentee vote, that IS your “day of election.” So Adams drives a campaign bus full of absentee voters up to the doors of the polling place (for absentee ballots) with his signage all over it. How many ethics violations has this boy had so far???
