BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–A Hanahan man has been charged in connection with the disappearance of a Dorchester County woman who vanished without a trace recently.
Approximately two weeks have gone by since anyone last saw 28-year-old Ashley Pegram, a mother of three from Summerville, alive. Deputies are now stating that foul play is “a definite possibility.”
“Other than what the warrant states, we will have no further comment. As the case progresses I will get you all updates,” Captain Tony Phinney told the media this week.
On Wednesday, Dorchester County detectives arrested Edward Primo Bonilla of Hanahan for obstruction of justice. He was reportedly the last person seen with Pegram. A judge recently set his bond at $400,000.
On April 4th, Pegram’s sister reported her missing. The missing woman’s family said they had not been able to get in contact with her since her date with Bonilla—which is unlike her, they told deputies.
According to family members, Pegram was last seen on April 3rd. On that day, they say she left the house to go on a date with Bonilla, a young man she met on a social media dating site called ‘Kik.’ They say she had also been known to frequent “Plenty of Fish” and “Meet Me.”
In the report, Pegram’s sister told deputies that her date went by the screen name “Emoney Bon.” Because the two sisters share cell phones, she stated that she was able to reach out to Bonilla by phone.
“Emoney Bon” or Bonilla allegedly told Pegram’s sister that during their date, Pegram became heavily intoxicated and that he “could not handle her.”
As a result, he stated that he kicked her out of his car around midnight on some “cut through street” possibly between the Kangaroo gas station and Piggly Wiggly on Main Street in Berkeley County.
Family members contacted area hospitals, but deputies say there have been no sign of Pegram ever in any of them.
Family members told deputies that Pegram has no cell phone, no credit cards and no identification.
Pegram has since been listed in NCIC as a missing person. She’s described as a white female, 28-years-old, weighing 140 pounds, 5’01” in height, with brown shoulder length hair, brown eyes, wearing black framed glassed.
