BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–On April 23, at 9 p.m. 42-year-old James Lee Garrett of Moncks Corner, was riding a moped on Highway 17A when he was struck by a pickup truck, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.
The coroner stated that the truck was making a left turn on Farrell Street when he struck Garrett.
Garrett was taken to MUSC where he later died.
Salisbury said that his death was ruled accidental and the cause of death was blunt force body trauma.
The accident was investigated by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
