BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Early Saturday morning, disaster-trained American Red Cross volunteers assisted a Berkeley County family of five adults and three young children, including an infant, whose home, located on Underbrush Court in Moncks Corner, sustained major fire damage.
The Whitesville Fire Department responded to the blaze.
The Red Cross provided the family with financial assistance for food, clothing, and temporary lodging, along with comfort kits containing personal hygiene items.
The victims were also given referrals to partner agencies to help with their long-term recovery.
Last year, the Palmetto South Carolina Region assisted more than 7,000 individuals affected by disaster.
