SUMMERVILLE, S.C.—One person is dead after shots were fired in the area of North Cedar Street and West 3rd North Street in Summerville Friday night.
Summerville police responded to the scene around 8:15 p.m. to find a 37-year-old Goose Creek man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Captain Jon Rogers.
Rogers says the victim was rushed to Trident Medical Center by Dorchester County EMS where he died from his injuries less than an hour after the shooting took place.
Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet has identified the victim as Curtis T. Michell of Bayonnet Drive in Goose Creek.
Nisbet stated that an autopsy scheduled for Saturday would determine where and how many times Michell was actually shot.
Authorities say the shooting took place in the parking lot of Glidden Paint in Summerville.
Rogers stated that shortly after the shooting, witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored 2004-2004 Chevrolet Impala with tinted windows occupied by two armed black men leaving the scene.
A dark-colored Infiniti was also seen leaving the area, police added.
At this time, police are still looking for the suspects.
