BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–On Saturday, Berkeley County deputies responded to a fight at Confetti’s Pub on College Park Road in Summerville shortly before 1 a.m.
Deputies say when they arrived on scene, they located a woman who had a puncture wound to her lower abdomen, however, she was conscious and alert.
According to the incident report, they discovered a second victim, a man, who had been stabbed in the groin area.
“He advised me that the suspect was intoxicated and was being disrespectful to the women inside the bar and that’s what caused the fight,” read the incident report.
EMS quickly arrived on scene and both victims were transported to Trident Hospital.
According to witnesses, the suspect, Anthony Gentry, 53, of Summerville was reportedly intoxicated and being rude to the owner.
“One party advised she was licked by the suspect and another stated he grabbed her breast,” read the report. “A verbal altercation then erupted and profanity was being yelled and slurred.”
Witnesses say they told officers that the argument escalated, and that’s when they claim Gentry pulled a knife out and the two victims were stabbed.
“The suspect received his injuries by the witnesses in an attempt to end the attack,” deputies stated.
During the altercation, deputies say the suspect was struck with a pool stick which was later found broken and in the trash can.
According to the incident report, the suspect was bleeding from his nose and from lacerations to his face. He also complained of chest pain.
“They were beating the sh*t out of me,” he reportedly told deputies in the report.
Deputies say Gentry claims he pulled out his knife only after several people began punching and kicking him.
Gentry was eventually transported to Moncks Corner Medical Center. According to a doctor there, x-rays showed that Gentry had, in fact, received two broken ribs.
He was eventually transported to the jail and charged with two counts of attempted murder.
He is still awaiting a bond hearing.
