BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to Berkeley Co. Coroner Bill Salisbury, on Sunday at 2:30 a.m., 24-year-old Julian Tyler Spears of Mr. Pleasant was the driver of a sedan headed north on highway 41 near the Berkeley/Charleston county line when he died in an accident.
Salisbury said he ran off the right side of the roadway, overturned several times, and struck several trees, the car then burned.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by Chief Deputy Coroner George Oliver of the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.
The coroner says the passenger in the car was ejected and transported to MUSC and was not wearing a seatbelt.
The coroner’s office was were unable to determine of the driver’s seatbelt was in use.
The accident is being investigated by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the S C Highway Patrol.
