BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Berkeley County officials announced Monday that Lt. Will Rogers of the Berkeley Co. Sheriff’s Office has been checked back into the hospital.

Rogers is reportedly experiencing blurred vision and a swollen head believed to be from an infection.

The veteran deputy had been discharged from the Medical University of South Carolina last month and sent to an undisclosed rehab center.

Rogers was shot in the head on May 14th at the Exxon gas station located at the intersection of Highway 52 and Cypress Gardens Road.

Authorities located the shooter exactly one week later; however, he was not taken alive.

After a 10-hour standoff with 32-year-old Jerome Thomas Caldwell in the Cromwell Alley area of downtown Charleston, police shot and killed him after they say he opened fire on them.

Rogers’ recovery has been nothing short of a miracle.

A poker run to benefit Lt. Rogers is scheduled for June 27th at the Steel Horse Saloon located at 2033 Old Highway 52 in Moncks Corner.

Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. The fee is $15 for riders and $5 for passengers. A meal is also included at the end of the run.

The event will also include live entertainment, raffle prizes and an auction.

One-hundred percent of the proceeds will go toward helping Lt. Rogers pay for his medical care.
