MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Sheriff Duane Lewis announced the arrest of 10 felony Berkeley County fugitives from the time period of June 9th through June 26th.
All of the arrest warrants originated with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and were made by the local U.S. Marshals Service’s Fugitive Task Force consisting of law enforcement officers from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, the North Charleston Police Department, the City of Charleston Police Department, the U. S. Marshals Service and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The 2 week effort resulted in the apprehension and arrest of 10 fugitives on felony arrest warrants for crimes including attempted murder, strong armed robbery, criminal sexual conduct with a minor, assorted drug charges, criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and immigration-related offenses.
Sheriff Lewis commended the Task Force’s efforts and stressed the significant importance the task force is to the State, Berkeley County and all local law enforcement agencies.
“This effort demonstrates the positive working relationships the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office has with our local, state and federal partners,” said Lewis. “The results make our communities safer. I will use all resources available to apprehend fugitives from Berkeley County and improve public safety for our residents.”
