HUGER, S.C.–According to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury, on Saturday around 10:30 a.m., an out of state sub-contractor working at the Huger Nucor steel plant was pinned between two moving pieces of equipment and crushed.
He was pronounced dead on the scene by Coroner Salisbury.
The Berkeley County and Charleston County Rescue Squads worked for 6 hours to free the man, Salisbury stated.
The accident is being investigated by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office. OSHA was notified and will assist in the investigation.
Salisbury stated that the name will be released after the out of state family is notified.
