BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–On the first day of school for Berkeley County students, 107 fathers participated in Berkeley Middle School’s Million Father March (MFM).
Fathers took their children to school and signed a pledge to commit at least one additional day of their time to support their children and the school.
Mike Wilkerson, Principal of Berkeley Middle School, said, “We are extremely happy that we have so many fathers of Berkeley Middle School students who are involved in their children’s lives. We also are especially grateful that they have committed their time to working with our young people and to being positive role models in their lives. Berkeley Middle School will continue to support initiatives like this in the future that promote parental involvement and foster positive community relations.”
The MFM is an opportunity for men to show their commitment to the educational lives of their children on the first day of school and throughout the school year.
Since MFM began in 2004, fathers and other significant male caregivers across the United States and around the world have gathered to accompany their children to their first day of the new school year.
Each annual MFM marks the beginning of a yearlong commitment by men to their children’s educational success.
