BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Will Rogers, a longtime deputy with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, continues to make a miraculous recovery after being shot in the head three months ago.
Rogers’ daughter sat down with Live 5 News Wednesday, telling the TV station that she actually wasn’t sure her father would survive his injuries.
“I thought he would die,” Jamie Wyatt stated. “You don’t hear of many people getting shot in the head and live.”
Wyatt says her father still suffers from memory loss, confusion and limited movement on the left side of his body.
However, over the course of his recovery, he’s proven that he’s a fighter.
“I think he’s happy that he’s going to get back to as close as he can to normal.”
Rogers was shot in the head on May 14th at the Exxon gas station located at the intersection of Highway 52 and Cypress Gardens Road. Police eventually killed his shooter, Jerome Thomas Caldwell, 32, after they say he opened fire on them.
On Thursday, Ocean Cowboys will host a BBQ Fundraiser for Lt. Rogers and his family. Rogers is expected to attend.
