GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–On Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 10:24 p.m. a pick-up truck and a moped collided at the intersection of Howe Hall Road and Red Bank Road in Goose Creek, Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury stated.
Salisbury added that the operator of the moped, Lisa J. Rast, 44, of Goose Creek died on the scene.
She was wearing a helmet.
Goose Creek Police stated that the driver of the pickup truck, Kenneth Ott, was not injured.
Captain John Grainger with the Goose Creek Police Department stated that preliminary reports from eyewitnesses suggest that at the time of the collision, Ott was turning left onto Howe Hall Rd. from Redbank Rd. as the moped was emerging from Howe Hall Rd.
The accident remains under investigation by The Berkeley County Coroner and The Goose Creek Police Dept.
According to Salisbury, this is the 4th moped death this year in Berkeley County.
