BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to Chief Deputy Mike Cochran, one person has been arrested in connection with a deadly home invasion that occurred early Sunday morning at 512 McCrystal Circle in the Moncks Corner area.
Glenn Randall Lane II, 29, of North Charleston was arrested within 12 hours of the crime and has been charged with murder. Lane also faces additional charges including: conspiracy, burglary 1st degree and six counts of kidnapping.
Cochran says during the early morning hours of September 27th, Berkeley County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and found a 32-year-old male victim, Mark Conner, with a single gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to Trident Hospital by Berkeley County EMS personnel where he was pronounced dead.
Cochran says the home invasion occurred between 7:00 and 7:20 a.m. After talking to several other witnesses, detectives were able to determine that Lane along with several other individuals broke into the home while the residents were asleep and began dispersing pepper-spray similar to that used by law enforcement.
Authorities say the suspects were known by the victims and were quickly identified.
Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office detectives say that the investigation is still active and that additional arrests are expected.
To date, members of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office have responded to 67 calls for service at the incident location since January 1, 2014.
Detectives are currently asking anyone who may have additional information regarding the incident or whereabouts of the suspects to call Crime Stoppers of the Low Country at 800-CRIME-SC (800-274-6372) or the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office at 843-719-4412.
