HANAHAN, S.C.–The City of Hanahan was recently selected by AAA as one of their top five winners for their “Traffic Safe Communities” award for the 10K-30K population category in South Carolina for 2015.
A total of 15 localities were awarded this honor for South Carolina during their twelfth-annual Traffic Safe Communities award study.
“The AAA Carolinas Foundation for Traffic Safety strives to educate the public on traffic safety issues and positively influence driver behavior,” said Tiffany Wright president of AAA Carolinas Foundation for Traffic Safety. The communities we are honoring in South Carolina prove through education, enforcement and strong legislation, we can continue to save lives.”
AAA Traffic Safe Communities are selected by analyzing crash statistics, number of law enforcement officers per capita, and presence of a formal traffic safety program and/or existence of a special traffic unit.
After a statistical analysis, the AAA Carolinas Foundation for Traffic Safety chose the winners by placing extra emphasis on those communities that are proactive in enhancing traffic safety efforts.
