BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, officers have arrested Traevon Jamal Doctor from Summerville for a burglary that occurred at 314 Sanctuary Park Dr. Summerville SC on January 4th.
The homeowner reported the perpetrator shot at him, when the homeowner caught Traevon Jamal Doctor fleeing from his residence.
Deputies responding to the initial call located a spent shell casing from a .45 caliber pistol in the back yard of Traevon Jamal Doctor’s residence, which is located two houses from the burglary location.
An investigation by detectives found another residential burglary on the same street occurred on December 15th. In that case, deputies say a Springfield Armory .45 caliber pistol had been stolen.
Sheriff Duane Lewis stated, “We are very pleased to have been able to make an arrest in these cases. It is certainly unsettling when burglaries take place at a person’s home. In this case, the suspect lived in the neighborhood of the crimes – making it very difficult to prevent.”
As a result of the investigation, Traevon Jamal Doctor was charged with Attempted Murder, Burglary in the 1st Degree, Possession of a weapon during a violent crime and Possession of a Stolen Handgun. Traevon Jamal
Doctor attended a bond hearing at the Hill Finklea Detention Center on Thursday where he was denied bond.
Detectives continue investigate Doctor’s involvement in other similar crimes in the area with more arrests expected within the week.
