BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Erin Moffett, a sixth grade social studies teacher, was recognized as the Berkeley Middle School 2016 Rookie Teacher of the Year.
Administrators surprised Moffett with this honor Thursday afternoon, February 5.
Rookie Teacher of the Year is an award selected by school administrators to recognize an outstanding first year teacher.
Moffett, originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, majored in Social Studies and minored in History at Eastern Michigan University.
Outside of the classroom, Moffett enjoys coaching volleyball, trips to the beach, playing sports and enjoying the local cuisine.
“I feel incredibly grateful for the honor of being named the Berkeley Middle School 2016 Rookie Teacher of the Year and could not have done it without guidance from my team, colleagues and administrators,” Moffett said. “Teaching is my passion, and I am beyond blessed to have the opportunity to do something that I love every day.”
