ALVIN, S.C.–On Sunday, March 6, 2016, at 10:30 a.m.,78 year old James Ray Ouzts of Mt. Pleasant was working on private property in the Alvin community of Berkeley when he was involved in an accident, stated Coroner Bill Salisbury.
The coroner says a friend was backing a pickup truck as Ouzts was behind the truck giving directions.
Salisbury says the truck backed over him and backed into a tree.
“He was pinned under the truck and was extricated by Berkeley County Rescue Squad and the local fire departments,” stated Salisbury.
Ouzts was pronounced dead on the scene. His death has been ruled accidental.
