MONCKS CORNER, S.C.–The town of Moncks Corner is looking forward to promoting a healthy lifestyle within the community in a fun and active way.
Town officials recently announced the opening of its organic community gardens. There are about 50 or so plots as well as 8 garden boxes available for the community to grow their crops.
The gardens are located behind the Municipal Complex and near the Berkeley County Rescue Squad building.
“If you are interested in the growing initiative of a “Farm to Table” nutritional lifestyle, this opportunity is for you,” town officials have stated.
The garden spots are free for the public to use. The only investments that you are required to make is to supply your own seed or plants, and to maintain a healthy garden.
Utilizing a method of layering called Lasagna Gardening, town organizers will furnish the cardboard, newspaper and compost.
A supply of gardening tools will also be available for the public’s use or you may bring your own.
If interested in securing a space, of if you would like to become involved, please contact Linda O’Brien at (843) 670-7655.
