BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Nearly one month after Berkeley County deputies arrested Zachery Hoy Sivils, 23, for impersonating a law enforcement officer, the young security guard is facing additional charges for the same crime now in Charleston County.
According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, on several occasions in October 2015, Sivils claimed to be a law enforcement officer while inside Stilletos Gentlemen’s Club located on Pittsburg Avenue in Charleston.
Authorities stated that Sivils attempted to gain access to the club by stating to club staff that he was a SLED agent and openly displayed his badge.
On one occasion, SLED officials claim Sivils was detained by club staff and was found to be in possession of a small .40 caliber Glock handgun, which was taken from him after club employees witnessed him consuming alcohol inside the club.
Witnesses also observed Sivils on several occasions traveling in a Chevrolet Tahoe, which he reportedly referred to as his “stated issued patrol car.”
The vehicle, according to witnesses, closely resembled an unmarked law enforcement vehicle in that emergency lights and radio equipment were clearly visible inside the vehicle.
Sivils has been charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer, a misdemeanor which carries a penalty upon conviction of a fine up to $500 or up to one year in prison.
He’s also been charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun, a misdemeanor which carries a fine of up to $2,000, up to two years in prison or both along with the loss of the concealed weapons permit for five years.
Sivils has been booked into the Charleston County Detention Center.
Last month, Berkeley County deputies arrested Sivils for impersonating a law enforcement officer after they say he conducted a traffic stop on a car for a reported “tag light violation.”
