BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Popular TV and radio personality, Charlamagne Tha God didn’t mix words when recently asked about ex-Subway pitchman Jared Fogle’s recent beat down by another inmate.
“I loved it. You know why I loved it because it lets me know that the old rules still apply. That’s what happens when a pedophile goes to jail,” the popular radio host told TMZ in New York. “They get beat up and sometimes they get raped.”
Fogle “sustained a bloody nose, scratches to his neck and redness and swelling to his face,” according to the prison incident report.
The alleged assailant was Steven Nigg, 60, who reportedly can’t stand to “be around child molesters.”
“Unfortunately, he didn’t get raped, but he definitely got beat up. I really enjoyed hearing that,” said Charlamagne Tha God.
In an interview with AZCentral.com, Nigg’s nephew, said that his uncle attacked Fogle because he was “frustrated” by his own conviction and the fact that Fogle has been using his celebrity status and money to get special treatment.
“In his words, my uncle’s words, people convicted of these types of crimes, crimes against children, sexual predators, rapists, they shouldn’t be in a minimum-security prison,” Jimmy Nigg stated. “He felt like it wasn’t fair. He (Fogle) gets to order any food he wants, he can use his money to do things. This guy is coming and prancing in like he can do anything he wants.”
Nigg was placed in solitary for 10 days after the alleged assault. He’s due to be released from prison on weapons charges in 2024.
