BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–On Saturday around 5 p.m., multiple fire crews were dispatched to a house fire on 1510 Bataw Road in St. Stephen.
When crews arrived on scene, they said the house was fully involved.
Fortunately, firefighters say no one was inside the house at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries.
The cause of the fire remains unknown at this hour.
Crews stated that the house belongs to an elderly woman in her seventies who spent 40 years teaching, most recently at J.K. Gourdine.
Firefighters on scene stated that the homeowner stood and watched as her home burned for the second time in ten years. She was reportedly at a birthday party when she learned her house was on fire.
