BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–There is a prescribed burn today by the U.S. Forest Service on the border of Berkeley County and Charleston County until 5 p.m.
The burn will cover over 2,800 acres at the intersection of Steed Creek Road and Halfway Creek Road.
The Forest Service anticipates traffic detours after 11 a.m. today for 3-4 hours at: Highway 17 and Steed Creek, Highway 41 and Steed Creek, Halfway Creek and United Drive, and Halfway Creek and Shulerville Road.
If heavy smoke remains on the roadways, there may be additional detoured traffic into the late evening tonight and early morning hours tomorrow.
The public is asked to obey all posted signs in the area.
