GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–The final countdown is underway for the City of Goose Creek’s Fifth Annual BBQ Festival.
The free event, sponsored by Goose Creek Heating and Air, takes place Saturday, April 23, from 2 to 6 p.m. behind the Municipal Center at 519 North Goose Creek Blvd.
Expert cooking teams will be on hand for the Backyard Barbecue Cook-off. Judges for the competition are news reporter Debbie Merlo from the Goose Creek Gazette, and Jack Waiboer, Mary Waiboer, Mark Richardson and Lori Bath from Carolina Pit Masters Barbecue Cooking School.
Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to first, second and third place finishers. Festival visitors will be able to purchase samples and vote for the People’s Choice Award winner.
The event also features live music by Return of the MAC, a variety of food vendors, a cornhole competition, and many kids’ activities. Admission and parking are free. For more information call (843) 569-4242.
