BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and the mother of Ariel Morgan, Kendra L. Morgan-Steven, have teamed up to address gun violence in the community.
Violence broke out during a block party on the evening of June 7th, 2014 in the Moncks Corner area of Berkeley County. Multiple shots were fired among a crowd of hundreds of attendees.
As a result, 19-year-old Ariel Morgan, who was an innocent bystander at the party, was shot and fatally wounded.
On June 4, 2016 an event called, “Bridging the Gap between the Community and Law Enforcement” will take place at Berkeley High School from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event is taking place in honor of “Ariel Elaine Morgan Day.”
“It is a family event, so bring your the kids and enjoy the event as well as listen to several good speakers talk about gun awareness and the ‘no snitch code,'” stated Morgan-Steven.
