GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the 2016 Goose Creek Barbecue Festival drew a large crowd behind the Municipal Center.
This was the fifth year for the popular event.
The festival featured live music by Return of the MAC, a variety of food vendors, a cornhole competition, and many kids’ activities.
Of course, the event wouldn’t have been complete without a BBQ cooking contest.
Judges for the competition included news reporter Debbie Merlo from the Goose Creek Gazette, and Jack Waiboer, Mary Waiboer, Mark Richardson and Lori Bath from Carolina Pit Masters Barbecue Cooking School.
The Creekside Smokers cooking team won the People’s Choice Award, and The Little Grill That Could won first place in the judged Backyard BBQ Cook-off at this year’s festival.
Horsepower Grill earned second place in the cook-off, while “OH YAH BBQ” captured third.
