Goose Creek Restaurant Recognized For Employing People With Disabilities

st james placeGOOSE CREEK, S.C.–The S.C. Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities recently honored St. James Place Bar and Grill in Goose Creek as winner of one of its two Small Employer of the Year awards for 2016.

The awards, which result from nominations from throughout the state, recognize organizations that have exemplary practices in hiring people with disabilities, making worksite accommodations and actively promoting disability awareness and workforce opportunities in the business community.

Committee officials say St. James Place has hired several persons with disabilities in recent years and makes accommodations in the workplace to assist those employees in being successful.

When there is a staffing need, they also added that management seeks candidates through the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department (VR), which screens qualified candidates and provides training to ensure a good fit, including job coaching when needed.

The business seeks to address any barriers individuals may have in attaining and maintaining employment success.

St. James Place was nominated for the award by the Summerville Mayor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities.
