BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Working with the Hanahan Police Department in order to address concerns about prostitution, public sex acts and drug activity in close proximity to a school, deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and the Hanahan Police Department conducted a prostitution sweep on Friday, May 13th that resulted in 16 arrests.
Sheriff Lewis stated, “We are proud of our relationship with the Hanahan Police Department and we will continue to work with them to assure that Berkeley County continues to be a great place to live and work.”
Authorities stated that there were 11 arrests for solicitation of prostitution, 3 for drug violations and two with warrants from area agencies. Nine of the arrests were in Hanahan while the remainder were in the Goose Creek and Ladson areas.
Undercover deputies posed as prostitutes during the operation whereupon customers approached and solicited them by offering money for sex acts.
