MONCKS CORNER, S.C.–According to the website HomeSnacks.net, the town of Moncks Corner is the fourth fastest growing municipality in The Palmetto State.
The website determined their rankings by analyzing U.S. Census data from 2010 to 2014 to calculate the rate of growth for all South Carolina cities with populations of more than 5,000.
Moncks Corner, named for its landowner Thomas Monck back in 1728, has seen record growth in recent decades. So much growth that the outer “suburbs” are now experiencing record growth as Charleston continues to explode.
With its old-fashioned hospitality, southern charm and history–these are just a few of the reasons people flock there.
Between 2010 and 2014 the town had a growth rate of 16.02%, the largest growth experienced by all of Charleston’s suburbs.
While Moncks Corner takes the honor for being one of the fastest growing towns in South Carolina, a separate report also deemed it to be one of the more stressed out ones, too. According to Zippia.com, Moncks Corner came in at #2.
