State Commissioner Tia Brewer-Footman will host the inaugural, Tia’s Junior All-Star Academy’s – SC Leadership Tour for teen girls, July 14-16. During this three-day tour, up to 150 ninth through twelfth grade girls, will enjoy a day of leadership and corporate training.
Sponsors and speakers from Boeing, University of South Carolina, the South Carolina Department of Commerce and the BB&T Leadership Institute will be present as the tour visits Charleston on July 14, Columbia on July 15 and ends in Greenville on July 16.
“We’ve been working for months in order to rollout this huge, first ever experience for our South Carolina teen girls of color and we’re beyond excited to provide a limited amount of scholarships for up to 50 girls to participate in our South Carolina Summer Leadership Tour powered by Tia’s Junior All-Star Girls Academy,” says Brewer-Footman. “As a State Commissioner for Minority Affairs, we want to make sure the tour reflects our agency’s constituency of Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans and other minority girls. This is an under-served population and I’m proud our partners were able to come together and make this possible for them.”
Only 50 slots are available for each location. For a limited time, scholarships will be offered to fill the last few slots before the tour registration ends. To register girls for the tour or apply for a scholarship, visit http://www.tiabrewer.com/tias-jr-all-star-academy. The deadline is July 5.
The tour is designed to develop not only leadership skills, but character, self-esteem and a winning attitude. As a tour participant, the girls will have the opportunity to either serve as the engineer or pilot in building her own mock Boeing plane and be certified through the BB&T Leadership Institute as an emerging leader among other exclusive exercises and activities.
