BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Jason Adam Blair, represented by attorney Michael Sahn, plead guilty on July 14, 2016, to 5 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, 2nd Degree, and 5 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, 3rd Degree, in front of Circuit Court Judge Jefferson in Berkeley County.
This case started in August 2013, Detective Kevin Murphy with the Berkeley County Sheriffâs Office, working as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children (I.C.A.C.) Taskforce, was sent files of child pornography from Blair on a file sharing network. After executing a search warrant at the defendantâs residence, investigators with the S.C. Attorney Generalâs Office found over 10,000 sexual pictures and videos of children on the defendantâs computer and external hard drive.
The forensic examination also revealed numerous voyeuristic pictures and videos where the defendant appeared to have hidden cameras in dressing rooms in stores such as Target, and had taken pictures of children at playgrounds.
âWe are glad to see that justice has been served in this case. We have a detective assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce for just this reason. The Internet is full of dangers and we must continue to do everything that we can to protect people from the criminal element that seeks to exploit defenseless children,â Sheriff Duane Lewis.
Blair was sentenced to 7 years in prison on all counts to run concurrently. Blair also consented to the forfeiture of his computer equipment (including the hidden camera used in the store), and he must register as a sex offender upon his release.
