BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.– Dara Harrop has been named the new principal of Marrington Middle School of the Arts in Goose Creek, South Carolina.
The Berkeley County School Board approved the appointment at their meeting on Tuesday, July 26. Harrop will begin her new assignment August 1 to prepare for the upcoming school year.
“I am humbled and honored to be named the principal of such an outstanding school,” said Principal Harrop. “I look forward to serving the students, faculty, staff, families, and community of Marrington Middle School of the Arts and am excited to continue their rich tradition of excellence.”
Harrop has invested 16 years in public education, beginning her career in Springville, Utah. She joined BCSD in 2002.
She has worked as a teacher, student intervention specialist and an administrator in many schools across the district including College Park Middle, Goose Creek High, Timberland High and Hanahan High. Harrop has served as the assistant principal at Cane Bay Middle School for the past four years.
Students, parents and the Marrington Middle community are invited to an informal drop-in to meet Principal Harrop on Tuesday, August 2. The meet-and-greet with be held from 4pm-7pm.
