25-Year-Old Goose Creek Woman Killed In Hanahan Crash

HANAHAN, S.C.–On August 7, 2016 at 5:57 a.m., Megan Calhoun, 25, of Goose Creek died in a single-vehicle traffic accident, according to the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.

Chief Deputy Coroner George Oliver stated that she was a passenger in a 2000 Nissan Altima that ran off the roadway, into a ditch and back onto the roadway and over turned ejecting her from the vehicle.

She was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver, a 22-year-old male, was also not wearing a seatbelt, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones. However, he was transported to Trident Hospital with only minor injuries.

The accident occurred near the intersection of North Rhett and Yeamans Hall Road in Hanahan.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the accident.

According to Chief Deputy Mike Cochran with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened shortly after an attempted car stop initiated by a BCSO deputy.
