Timberland High Student Killed In Four-Wheeler Accident

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–On Sunday, Sept. 4, 15 year old Jasmine Lampkin of the Alvin community of Berkeley County was involved in a serious ATV accident, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

The coroner stated that she was airlifted to MUSC by helicopter and admitted to the children’s hospital.

“She died on Monday afternoon and her death was ruled accidental,” stated Salisbury. “Head trauma was the cause of death.”

Salisbury stated that she was thrown from the ATV and struck a tree. He added that she was not wearing a helmet.

The accident is under investigation by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office.

Lampkin was a student at Timberland High School, and the daughter of a longtime Berkeley County Rescue Squad member.

Her sudden and unexpected passing has touched many in Alvin and surrounding communities.

“Heaven gained a beautiful angel today and all our hearts are in a million pieces!” stated Angela Dawn Radcliffe. “I know we are not to ask why and we are suppose to rejoice that she went on home to heaven, but it’s hard not to ask question and wonder why in the world did someone so loving and so young have to leave.”

“I woke up this morning crying. Lord Jesus this is really hard,” posted Jasmine’s father, Lamont Lampkin, via social media. “I thought I was strong,but I am not this is really hard.”

On Sunday, a candlelight vigil was also held for the young THS student.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
