GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, a male student will face charges for beating up a fellow student Wednesday inside Goose Creek High School.
While on duty, a deputy says he witnessed the fight break out inside the cafeteria.
The officer says he saw the older student hold the face of another male student down on the ground before fleeing the school. No other students were around, he said.
The officer rushed to help the injured student up and walked him to the nurses office, a report reads. He was then transported to the hospital by EMS. The fight reportedly left the victim with a concussion and swollen face.
Authorities say they eventually reviewed the school’s security cameras and saw where the older teen punched the younger student several times and throw a chair at him.
The motive for the fight is unknown.
The student was suspended pending an expulsion hearing, deputies say.
Deputies also say the teen is being charged with disturbing school as well as assault and battery in the 3rd degree.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
