BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–On Thursday, Darryl Edward Flowers plead guilty to murder, two counts of attempted murder & two counts of kidnapping.
Flowers plead to 40 years for the murder, 30 years for each of the remaining charges.
In June of 2014, Berkeley County deputies say Flowers killed 36-year-old Tammy Flowers, his wife, and shot his two teenage nieces who were living in the home.
The incident took place at 52 Elmwood Place off of Medway Road and Pine Grove Road in Goose Creek.
After the incident, authorities say Flowers fled the area.
He was ultimately arrested by the Maryland State Police on I-95 while in a stolen vehicle.
When the MSP attempted to stop him, they say he refused to stop. When he did stop, deputies say he cut his throat and wrists with a box cutter. He has since healed and will now serve his sentence.
“The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank the 9th Circuit Solicitor’s Office with their assistance in helping bring this case to a resolution,” read an online statement by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
