BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–According to Berkeley County Deputy Coroner George Oliver, a Summerville man has died following a traffic accident along Highway 176 that occurred a month ago.
On August 25, Oliver says that 48-year-old Ronald William Cox Jr. of Summerville, was traveling east on Old State Road near Lebanon Road, when he ran off the left side of the roadway.
The deputy coroner says he struck a tree and was pinned in the vehicle. A local fire department had to extricate him.
There were reportedly no witnesses to the accident.
Authorities say Cox was transported to the hospital and remained there until his death on September 24th.
EMS reports stated he was wearing a seatbelt.
His death has been ruled accidental, the coroner’s office reports.
The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
