ST. STEPHEN, S.C.–One person is dead following a traffic accident in St. Stephen, according to troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins stated that the driver of a 2005 Ford pickup was traveling west when he struck and killed a pedestrian around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Authorities say the accident took place on U.S. Highway 52 near Peru Road.
Collins says the driver of the truck was not injured and won’t face any charges.
According to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury, the pedestrian has been identified as 51-year-old Everett Laganza Robinson of Saint Stephen.
Salisbury said that Robinson was pushing a lawnmower in the roadway on Highway 52 when he was struck.
His death has been ruled accidental.
