BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–After several hours of searching, the Berkeley County Rescue Squad recovered the body of man who fell out of his boat while fishing with his son.
Crews got the call shortly before 10 a.m. on Wednesday and launched their boats from the William H. Dennis Boat Landing shortly after.
Approximately three hours later, crews located the body of 65-year-old James Phlegar, Jr.
Coroner Bill Salisbury stated that Phlegar went overboard after attempting to catch something that fell out of the boat.
He was reportedly not wearing a life jacket when he fell out of the boat.
The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has ruled his death as accidental.
