GOOSE CREEK, S.C.–According to the Chief Deputy Mike Cochran, at 8:04 a.m. Wednesday deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from an individual who had not seen their neighbor, a resident of 410 Howe Hall Road, in an unspecified period of time.
When deputies responded to the home at 8:10 a.m., Cochran stated that officers found a black, middle-aged man deceased.
Authorities say the case is currently being investigated as a homicide.
The incident location is on the corner of Howe Hall Road and Ruby Ridge Lane in unincorporated Goose Creek.
The address parcel has more than one structure on it, the incident location is the brick home, Cochran stated.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are working the scene for evidence. Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury released the name of the victim the following day.
“I found a 58 year old, male, identified as Samuel Grant of the above address lying on his bed. It appeared he had been shot,” stated Salisbury in a press release.
After the scene was documented and evidence was collected, the body was transported to MUSC for an autopsy, Salisbury added.
The homicide investigation is being conducted by the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
