BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Berkeley Electric Cooperative, Inc. will hold its Annual Meeting of Members on November 12th at the Exchange Park Fairgrounds in Ladson.
As a self-governing, not-for-profit utility, Berkeley Electric is required to assemble a quorum of its members each year to conduct the business of the cooperative. Over 20,000 members are expected to attend.
The purpose of the meeting is to elect board trustees, to hear reports on the status of the cooperative from current trustees and staff, to address any other business for the upcoming year.
The three trustees running for re-election are Carol A. Caddell, George McFadden and Harry Brunson. Caddell is facing opposition from challengers Ronnie Wiggins and Juanita Middleton. The other two trustees are unopposed. All members who register to vote in the election will receive a $30 credit on their electric bill.
There will also be special performances by Gracious Day, the Berkeley Middle School Chorus, the Cane Bay High Chorus and the Westview Middle School Jazz Band. Other festivities will include an antique car show, health fair and petting zoo.
Berkeley Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric cooperative serving over 90,000 member-account in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties. Berkeley Electric’s Annual Meeting is the largest meeting of all electric co-ops across the country.
