ALVIN, S.C.–Friends and family are mourning the loss of a longtime first responder with Berkeley County.
Alvin’s fire chief, Peter Prioleau, passed away from a heart attack on November 4th.
He was 70-years-old.
“Please keep Chief and his family in your prayers during this time,” read a statement on the fire department’s official Facebook page. “Rest easy Chief. We got it from here.”
Prioleau had served as the fire chief for the Alvin Rural Fire Department for more than 32 years and spent more than 40 years as a Lowcountry first responder.

Prioleau leaves behind his wife, Rozetta Hamilton Prioleau, and three children.
