BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–Two men are behind bars following one of the largest meth busts in Berkeley County history, according to law enforcement officials.

On Tuesday, Sheriff Duane Lewis announced the arrest of John Jamain Bryant, 44, and Melvin Keith Bryant, 41, both of Marion Drive in Sangaree for possession of 1,228 gross grams of methamphetamines, 122 gross grams of Marijuana, 16 Schedule 1 narcotics pills, a Taurus 38 revolver and 4 vehicles from the residence.

Deputies say concerned Sangaree residents tipped law enforcement off to the two men.

“The case was assigned to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Drug Enforcement Unit,” stated Chief Deputy Mike Cochran. “After investigating the complaint, detectives were able to establish probable cause that the activities brought to the sheriff’s attention were
valid.”

Meth is typically sold in smaller quantities, however, Cochran stated that the amount of meth deputies recently discovered has a wholesale value of approximately $15,000. Its value is even greater when sold individually.

Sheriff Lewis stated, “We appreciate the residents of Sangaree for having the confidence in us to let us know the problems in Sangaree. These arrests, we hope, will have a positive impact on the Sangaree community. Working together, we can make Berkeley County a greater place.”
