BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–A man deputies say caused quite chaotic scene along Highway 17-A and Myers Road during Monday rush hour is behind bars.
Officers say Jonathan Wilmer Venable, 32, of Ladson crashed a stolen white F-150 into multiple vehicles and became disabled.
Authorities say he then stole a black Chevrolet Tahoe, fled and then crashed into two more vehicles and then a pole.
Multiple people were reportedly injured.
A deputy was able to take Venable into custody with the assistance of an off-duty deputy that was nearby.
According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Venable was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash with injuries x 2 and driving under the influence.
Deputies say additional charges are relating to the possession of a stolen vehicle and the carjacking.
Venable is currently at the Hill Finklea Detention Center and awaiting a bond hearing.
There were no significant injuries in the crash, but there was significant property loss, deputies stated.
