BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C.–For the 14th year in a row, hundreds of people showed up to view First Christian Church’s “Living Nativity” located on Highway 52 in Moncks Corner.
For two days only, December 9th and December 10th, drivers got to see the Biblical account of Jesus’ birth, life, death and resurrection. Below are some of the many images taken from the two-day event.
1. Decree from Caesar Augustus (Luke2:1-3). Caesar Augustus decreed a census to be taken throughout the Roman Empire shortly before Jesus was born.
2. Magi Traveling to See Jesus (Matthew 2:7-9). Far away in the East lived astronomers who studied the stars. They were seeking the One whose birth had been prophesied–the One who would be King of the Jews.
3. Angel Appears to Mary (Luke 1:26-28). In a region called Judea, a girl in the town of Nazareth named Mary was engaged to a young man named Joseph. Before they were to be married, an angel named Gabriel appeared to her and told her she would bear a Messiah or “Christ,” the promised Savior of the world.
4. Angel Appears to Joseph (Matthew 1:20-24). Joseph is visited in a dream by an angel who confirms that the child Mary carries is indeed Jesus, the Christ. He will also be known as Immanuel-“God with us.”
5. The Shepherds and the Angels (Luke 2:8-14). Joseph and Mary returned to Bethlehem…
…shepherds in fields nearby were surrounded by angels who came with “good news of great joy.”
6. Bethlehem Street Market (Micah 5:2)…
…Bethlehem was usually a sleepy shepherding village and was about five miles south of Jerusalem, the capital of Judea…
…It was the birthplace of King David…
…and the promised location for the Christ child.
7. At the Manger(Luke 2:6-7, 16-20). Jesus, the Christ, Messiah, King of the Jews, Immanuel, was born on the earth in the borrowed stall of a stable. He was welcomed to the world, not by holy priests or powerful leaders, but by nervous parents and simple shepherds. Magi were on the way to worship Him while the world God and His promise to send a Savior.
8. The Risen Lord (Matthew 28:16-20; Mark 16:19-20; Luke 24:50-53; Acts 1:1-11). Jesus’ miraculous birth was not the end, nor was it the beginning of the end.
