Roper St. Francis Express Care On University Blvd. Opens In Former Nason Building

The Roper St. Francis Express Care on University Boulevard in North Charleston also opened to the public on Monday, Dec. 12.

This is the fourth Roper St. Francis Express Care to open in the Lowcountry. Express Cares are open seven days each week for walk-in appointments and offer on-site labs and X-rays. Six advanced practitioners and three physicians will serve patients at the site.

Dr. Dewey Detar, Roper St. Francis Express Care medical director, said the services offered by Roper St. Francis Express Care help keep patients out of emergency rooms and cost them less than an emergency room visit.

“We have the ability to offer patients better access to healthcare by connecting them to primary care physicians when they don’t have one,” he said. “In one month alone, our Express Cares saw more than 480 patients who did not have a primary care physician; those doctors are essential to preventing sickness and disease in our community.”

The new Express Care is located at 8901 University Blvd. in North Charleston near Wannamaker Park and is expected to be one the busiest locations.

Roper St. Francis Express Cares are open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
